About Tombrack United A F C

Tombrack United are situated in North County Wexford and play their soccer in the Wexford Football League (Men /Youths), Wexford Womens League (Women), Wexford Schoolboys League and Wexford Schoolgirls League. They are a rural club, based in a small crossroads townsland and take all their players from around the local area. The club are fielding eleven teams this coming season, three at adult (two men and one womens), one youth boys, four schoolboys and three schoolgirls. The club was founded in 1991 and started life with one mens team which played its football in the Carlow and District League. Whereas the club enjoyed some great moments in the first few seasons, success was limited and in 1995, the club made the decision to move to the Wexford and District League

Men: Last season the men won their first ever league title when comfortably winning division four of the Wexford League as well as reaching the last sixteen of both the Wexford Cup and Leinster Junior Shield. This season they will be hoping to continue their recent good form as they compete in division three a for the first time. They still have all the players that won the league last season and should compete well for the title this season, especially now the hoodoo of winning title number one is off their back

Men B: With a load of players on the Senior squad and several players coming through from Youth level, the decision was taken to enter a B team and it will be competing in division five. With a mixture of experience and youth, the team has the capability to do well and their season will probably depend on how consistent their starting eleven can be for each game

Women: The womens team have been traditionally the most succesful in the club having won the Gaynor Cup in 1995 and again in 1996, have been beaten finalists four times in the same cup before winning the Division Two league title in 2008. That summer they went on a fantastic run in the FAI Junior Cup which saw them reach the semi finals only to be beaten by eventual winners Abbeyfeale from Limerick. Last season, they shocked many in the league by challenging for the division one league title and eventually missing out on promotion by a point. This season, they will hope to go one better under new manager Obi Kavanagh and they have the squad capable of challenging for honours

Youths: The youths have the capabilities to challenge for honours but inconsistency in the squad over previous seasons has cost them dearly. This season, some of the younger club members will be breaking through to this age group so maybe this could be their season to take honours

Underage Boys: The underage boys section of the club has been steadily progressing over the years and the general opinion is that a first league title at underage level is not far away. In 2006 and 2007 our under ten boys finished runners up in division two and were unlucky not to take the title in 2007. These players have steadily came through the older age groups and the possibility of taking a title at under fourteen is a distinct possibility this season. Our Under Sixteens are also capable of taking honours while our Under Tens and Twelves continue to improve

Underage Girls: The girls section of the club enjoyed their best season last year when taking the division two B titles at Under ten and Under Twelve. This season an under fourteen team also will be taking part and all three teams are quite capable of doing well.
