Under Sixteen Girls Bow out of Cup after brave effort

Published: Wednesday, 28 March 2018 21:24

Tuesday March 27th

Under Sixteen Schoolgirls Ger Dunne Cup Quarter Final

St Leonards  2  Tombrack United  1

Two of the top sides in the Premier Division clashed in the quarter final of this seasons Under Sixteen Cup and produced a game worthy of the cup final itself. Tombrack started the game well and created a couple of decent chances with Lucy Kemple and Nadine Fortune both bringing good saves from the impressive home goalkeeper before a well struck shot from Becky Connaughton struck the back of the net to give the girls a well deserved lead. Despite being in control for periods of the first half, they still could not capitalise on that possession

St Leonards were much better in the second half but our girls still pushed forward to put the game to bed despite being hit by a couple of injuries which forced the management

Under 14 girls bow out of Cup in five goal thriller

Wexford Schoolgirls Under Fourteen Cup Second Round

Tombrack United  2  North End United  3

This on / off cup tie eventually got played this evening and the girls can feel very unfortunate to bow out of the cup in a five goal thriller, with the lead changing hands on a regular basis. North End started well but did not create any clear cut chances and when they did, Rebecca Kavanagh in the Tombrack goal dealt comfortably with anything that reached her while Katie Butler was enjoying an excellent game at centre back.

B Team pick up vital three points

Wexford Football League Division Four A

Taghmon United  0  Tombrack United  5

Our men's second team picked up a vital three points in their battle against relegation when they travelled to Taghmon and came away 5-0 winners. This win has now moved them into a position where avoiding a drop back to Division Five is now a realistic possibility and with some important games at the bottom of the table coming up in the next few weeks, their fate is now in their own hands. Eoghan Murphy scored twice in this win with Eoin Carton, Kevin Kenny and John Kavanagh also finding the net

Under Eleven and Under Eighteen Girls return to top of the table

Under Eleven Schoolgirls Division One

Bunclody AFC  1  Tombrack United  3

Our Under Eleven schoolgirls side bounced back from their cup defeat a few weeks back by making the short journey to leaders Bunclody and moved to the top of the table themselves after an top class performance saw them run out 3-1 winners. The girls totally dominated the opening stages of the game and led 3-0 after five minutes with Kate Tomkins scoring two goals while Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave also found the net. Only good defending kept Tombrack from increasing their first half lead and although Bunclody did pull a goal back in the second half, good game management kept them at bay and the girls ensured the three points that see them return to the top of the table

Under Twelve Schoolboys

Tombrack United  3  Wexford Bohs  5

The Under Twelve Schoolboys were very much understrength for this game against Wexford Bohs but put in a strong performance before eventually being beaten 5-3. Stephen O Toole scored all three goals for Tombrack and only the fact they were low in numbers prevented the lads from getting something from this game. Special mention to Danny Dreelan and Stephen O Toole who played two full games for the club today
