Under Thirteen Schoolboy Cup First Round

Gorey Rangers  6  Tombrack United  0

To put this match in perspective, there are five divisions between these two sides with Gorey Rangers sitting top of the league and unbeaten while Tombrack are mid-table Division Three A so it was always going to be a tough task for our lads. However, the lads worked hard from the kick off and never allowed the home side to settle into their usual flowing rhythm and while Tombrack found it difficult to push forward, they were not allowing Rangers to dictate either. However, just before half

time, Gorey got the break they needed and  scored twice in quick succession to give them a 2-0 lead at the break. Two early goals in the second half ended the match as a contest but our lads continued to work hard and never rolled over and although Gorey scored two more before the end, manager Bob Newe was delighted with the efforts of his players and enjoyed the experience of playing against arguably the best team in the county at this age group

Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Division Two A

Tombrack United  1  Bunclody AFC  2

This local derby was a closely contested affair and manager Pat Walsh was disappointed at the end that his side did not get something from this game but it was near neighbours Bunclody who left Ballyboy with an important three points. Bunclody enjoyed the better possession but found a well organised Tombrack defence difficult to break down but eventually managed to find the net twice and although Amy Tobin Cosgrave did scored for the home side, it was not enough and Bunclody left with the three points

Under Fifteen Schoolboy Cup First Round

Tombrack United  3  Newpark FC  3  (Aet)

(Newpark won 4-2 on penalties)

This cup tie saw loads of drama and excitement before Newpark eventually went through to the next round of the cup after a penalty shoot-out. Both sides played open passing football, creating several chances and ending 2-2 after normal time before Tombrack took the lead again in extra time and seemed to have done enough to go through until a late penalty saw Newpark equalise to bring the game to penalties where the visitors held their nerve to win out 4-2. Adam Jeffers and Conor O Toole scored in normal time for Tombrack while Danny Ascott was on target in extra time

LFA Youth Cup Second Round

Avonmore FC (Wicklow)  5  Tombrack United  0

Our Youths made the long trip to Rathdrum to take on Wicklow League leaders Avonmore FC in the second round of the LFA Youth Cup and although eventually beaten 5-0, manager Willie Maher was happy with the performance, especially as they played most of the match with ten players as defender Alan Carton was sent off in the first half for a hand ball on the goal line. The early exchanges in the game were even enough but the home side always looked dangerous and including the penalty awarded for the sending off, they led 2-0 at the break. Tombrack continued to work hard in the second half and did well to contain the confident home side who scored another three to book their place in the last sixteen while Tombrack can now concentrate on their league campaign where they remain unbeaten and well in contention for the title

Under Eighteen Schoolgirls Seven a Side

Carnew FC  0  Tombrack United  15

The firepower of our Under Eighteen girls side proved much too strong for a brave home side who tried to contain the Tombrack girls but just found them impossible and the girls moved joint top of the table as they recorded their third win of the season. Shannon McGovern was in spectacular form and scored five, while Nicola Ryan added three, Tia Byrne and Breda Cushen scored two each while Leanne Kenny, Kelli Maguire and Becky Connaughton all scored one each
