Under Eleven Schoolboys

Tombrack United v Cloughbawn AFC

Our Under Eleven Schoolboys continued their impressive run of friendlies when they hosted Cloughbawn in Ballyboy today with both sides producing some excellent football. Both sides had great talent on display and well done to Bridget for organising these matches on a fortnightly basis, its a project that will be of great benefit to the club going forward

Under Eleven Schoolgirls Division One

Tombrack United  1  Bunclody AFC  1

The Under Eleven schoolgirls rounded off 2017 top of the table after this exciting 1-1 draw at home to local rivals Bunclody. Both these sides were unbeaten coming into this match so it was always going to be close with our girls opening the scoring when Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave found the net eight minutes into the first half. Bunclody came more and more into the game in the second half and got back on level terms midway through the half with a draw probably being fair between two

evenly matched sides. Special mention to Marita McCrea who put in a fantastic performance in goal as she stepped in to replace regular keeper Eabha Guinan who was unavailable. Tombrack now go into the new year currently five points clear at the top of the table but still with a lot of work to do if they want to secure a league title.

Under Thirteen Schoolboys Division Three A

Forth Celtic B  2  Tombrack United  2

A thrilling game in Forth Celtic saw our lads remain mid table after an exciting 2-2 draw. Tombrack had to come from behind twice with the tactical awareness of Assistant Manager Davy O Keefe being a telling factor in the lads earning a point. Forth took the lead but Ryan Hayes was on hand to bring the sides level and although the home side went in front again, Stephen O Toole scored to make it 2-2

Under Fourteen Schoolgirls Division Two A

St Josephs  7  Tombrack United  2

A very young under strength Tombrack side travelled to Kilmuckridge and put in a good performance before going down 7-2 to a very clinical home side. Zoe Tobin Cosgrave and Abbie Walsh were on target for Tombrack who worked hard throughout the game but found the physical strength of the home side too tough to handle

Under Fifteen Schoolboys Division Three

Tombrack United  1  Taghmon United  0

The Under Fifteen boys kept alive their promotion hopes when they overcame Taghmon 1-0 in a very closely contested game with both sides creating chances although defences dominated. The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Tombrack were awarded a penalty for a handball and Adam Jeffers stepped up to convert the penalty for what was the only goal of the game

Wexford Youths League Division Three

Tombrack United  2  Camolin Celtic  1

These two sides were both unbeaten in the league last season with Camolin finishing as champions and Tombrack second, producing two very close games along the way and this first meeting of the two sides this season produced proved to be every bit as entertaining. Camolin started the best as Tombrack struggled to find any rhythm and after twenty minutes found themselves a goal down when Camolin were awarded a penalty which Daniel Nolan Buckley almost saved but the ball squeezed under his body into the net. Conceding this goal proved to be the wake up call that Tombrack needed and went on the attack, with Josh McMullan and Harry Fitzgibbon both bringing two excellent saves from the Camolin keeper.

Harry eventually brought the sides level when he proved sharpest in a crowded penalty area to bring the sides level seven minutes before half time and it got better just on the stroke of half time when Kevin Kenny kept his nerve to fire the ball past the keeper and put Tombrack deservedly ahead. Camolin did try to get back into the game in the second half but the lads were now well in control with Mikey Roche, Tomas Breen, as well as the two goalscorers all very impressive while Daniel Buckley Kenny in the goal looked very comfortable

This win moves the lads into a title challenging position with games in hand on the leaders and now prepare to travel to Rathdrum in two weeks time for the second round of the LFA Youth Cup
