Wexford Football League Division One

Tombrack United   2   St Cormacs   1

Our mens first team got back into action today and picked up a vital three points in their battle against relegation when they overcame fellow strugglers St Cormacs 2-1. Tombrack started well and were playing the passing fluid football which we are accustomed to seeing and were rewarded when Josh McMullen rounded off a good personal weekend with a well taken goal in a crowded penalty area. The home side could have increased that lead as Matthew Hendrick and Eoghan Murphy both had shots just wide of the post but despite enjoying most of the possession, the lads had to be content with that single goal lead at half time. Ten minutes into the second half, Jamie Murphy capitalised on some space in the penalty area and kept calm to fire home and it looked like it was job done. However, ten minutes later, their centre forward used his intelligence to draw a foul and was awarded a penalty which was duly converted resulting in a nervy finish to the game. Keeper Aaron Breslin was called on to make a vital save in injury time and that was enough to secure a very important victory
